General Nathan Bedford Forrest

Nathan Bedford Forrest (July 13, 1821 - October 29, 1877) was a Lieutenant General in the Confederate Army during the War Between The States (aka War of Northern Aggression).

He is remembered both for his success as a cavalry leader during the war and notorious as a founder of the Ku Klux Klan following the war. This is often related as a truth but, in fact, there is no evidence supporting the allegation that General Forrest founded the KKK.
